I am grateful to those women who stood up and marched outside the Union buildings in 1956! Those 20 000 women were brave to take a stand against the injustices that they had experienced. Their bravery has intern affected our future in a positive way!
However, it is time for us to be brave again. It is time for us to take a stand and make a statement. The campaign that we are running for the month of August is focused around drawing attention to GBV as a whole.
As women, we play a key role in the socio-economic development of society. We help birth nations! Moral compassion and love for one another is taught from our mothers, aunts, grandmothers and other influences around us.
We hold such incredible power in what we do and what we offer! Why then are we stifled?!
GBV effects our society emotionally, physically and economically. The objective of this campaign is to draw attention with a montage of images – let them see our pain and our need for safety. As we stand together in Solidarity in showing our support against GBV – let us rise! Be the queens that we are and show the world we are not going to be quiet, we will no longer be silenced!
Walk with us on the 28th and 29th August – show your support, take a photo of yourself with your banner and tag us on social media! Let’s show them what we are made of!
